Install Dialogue on Shopify

Getting Dialogue running on a Shopify store takes a few minutes. You install the app, switch it on in your theme, and you’re ready to create assets. There’s no code to copy and no product feed to set up: your products come straight from Shopify.

  1. In the Shopify App Store, search for Dialogue | CRO & A/B testing.
  2. Click Install and approve the permissions Shopify asks for.
  3. Shopify sends you to your Dialogue dashboard at dashboard.nowdialogue.com.

App embeds let Dialogue load on your store. They’re switched on in Shopify’s theme editor.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
  2. Next to your live theme, click Customize.
  3. In the left sidebar, open App embeds.
  4. Turn on DialogueAI Integration. This one shows your Dialogue assets on your store.
  5. Planning to run A/B tests? Also turn on Dialogue AB Commerce.
  6. Click Save.

If an asset doesn’t show on your store later, check these switches first. App embeds are set per theme, so if you switch to a different theme, turn them on there too.

3. Add a “Dialogue Asset” block (optional)

Section titled “3. Add a “Dialogue Asset” block (optional)”

Most assets are placed from the Position tab in the Dialogue asset editor. You can also place an asset as a block inside your Shopify theme, which is handy for Online Store 2.0 themes.

  1. In the Dialogue dashboard, open your asset and go to the Position tab.
  2. Open In Page With Shopify blocks and copy the Asset ID.
  3. Click Position With Shopify. Your theme editor opens on the right page type.
  4. Click Add section (or Add block inside an existing section), go to Apps, and choose Dialogue Asset.
  5. Click the new Dialogue Asset block and paste your ID into Asset Id.
  6. Click Save in Shopify.
  7. Go back to the Dialogue dashboard and click Publish.

The block’s Show in demo mode option only affects the theme editor. It lets you see the asset there even when it’s switched off or has no products to show yet.

For the full walkthrough, see Shopify 2.0 Theme Blocks Positioning.

  • Create your first asset: in the left menu, click Assets > Create Asset.
  • Place it on your store: see Positioning Assets Onto Shopify Stores.
  • Add checkout offers (Shopify Plus): see Checkout Upsells & Cross-sells.
  • Get help from Dia: Dia is the AI assistant in your dashboard. Ask it to create or change assets for you, from the Ask Dia box on Home or the chat bubble.
