Brand Vocabulary and Languages

If your store sells in more than one language, or you repeat the same phrases across many assets (like “Free shipping” or “Shop now”), two tools save you time:

• Vocabulary: write a phrase once, translate it once, and reuse it in any asset.
• Asset texts per language: set an asset’s title and button text for each of your store’s languages.

Shoppers see the text in the language they browse your store in. If a language has no translation, they see your main text.

Your brand vocabulary

Go to Settings → Brand → Vocabulary.

Add a phrase

1. Make sure Locale is set to Default, your main language.
2. Click Add Entry.
3. In Key, type a short name for the phrase, for example free_shipping. Use only letters, numbers and underscores.
4. In the value box, type the text shoppers should see in your main language.
5. Click Save.

Translate a phrase

1. In Locale, pick another language your store uses.
2. Type the translation next to each phrase.
3. Click Save.

To remove a phrase, click the trash icon on its row. It is removed right away, so check first that no asset still uses it.

Use a phrase in an asset

1. Open the asset in the editor.
2. Click into a text box that supports vocabulary, such as the title or the button text.
3. A Vocabulary list opens under the box. Click the phrase you want.

The phrase appears in the box as a tag. When you change the phrase in Vocabulary later, every asset that uses it updates too.

Translate an asset’s texts

Each asset can have its own text for every language your store uses.

1. Open the asset in the editor and go to the Behavior tab.
2. On the behavior you want to edit, open Messaging.
3. The top section is your main language, marked (default). Edit the texts there.
4. Below it, each of your other languages has its own section. Click a language to open it and type the translations.

A colored dot next to each language shows its progress: orange means some texts are translated, green means all of them are.
